The Nintendo Switch version of Detective Pikachu Returns is currently available for wishlisting and will arrive on October 6, 2023. Following the overall adorable success of the Detective Pikachu movie, Nintendo announced a new installment in the franchise in 2019.
The original Detective Pikachu game was released worldwide in 2018. It gave Pikachu a new friend and a voice, making him a stern private investigator and bringing Ace Attorney-like vibes to the game. Considering the subsequent film, it makes sense that it is more of a narrative adventure than a traditional Pokémon game.
Pikachu and his friend Tim Goodman are back in the new movie, and as the first trailer shows, there are some mischiefs. It is always a pleasure to see Pikachu wearing a small hat, pondering life’s mysteries, and holding a cup of coffee, regardless of the plot of the game.
