LG’s ‘first gaming laptop’ features an RTX 3080 graphics card and 11th Gen Intel CPU

The LG UltraGear 17G90Q is the company’s “first gaming laptop,” according to LG. The 17-inch laptop is powered by an Intel Tiger Lake H CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics card, with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage options.

Although the company has a history of producing laptops, its past models have primarily focused on office productivity rather than providing a top-of-the-line gaming experience. For example, the LG Gram 17 we reviewed earlier this year was a great lightweight work laptop, but without a hefty dedicated GPU, it wasn’t a gaming machine.

LG lists two laptops with Nvidia GPUs on its website, but both are the GTX 1650, which is a lower-powered GPU. The RTX 3080 in the new UltraGear 17G90Q, on the other hand, is Nvidia’s fastest GPU for laptops right now.

A 1080p IPS display with a refresh rate of 300Hz, a 93Wh battery, an RGB keypad, a fingerprint sensor on the power button, and a 1080p webcam are among the other features. The laptop’s casing is built of aluminium, and it comes in a lovely purple grey colour.

Despite the fact that the LG UltraGear 17G90Q is designed for gaming, it comes with a slew of physical connectors. There are two USB-C ports (one of which is USB 4) as well as two USB-A ports, a headphone jack, HDMI port, Ethernet, and a microSD card slot. A separate DC input is used for charging.

The 17G90Q’s price has yet to be revealed, but LG says further information will be revealed at CES on January 4th. Beginning in early 2022, it will be published in the United States and South Korea.
