Intelligent text actions are coming to Windows 11 as well as the Settings app powered by artificial intelligence

Microsoft has begun rolling out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3964 to users in the Beta channel, officially pushing the system version to 24H2 starting this Monday. This latest build, available for those enrolled in the Insider program, brings a host of improvements, bug fixes, and introduces fresh AI-driven capabilities, including the much-anticipated AI assistant within the Settings app.

As announced recently, Microsoft’s new Settings assistant is designed to help users locate and modify system settings using natural language commands instead of traditional keyword-based searches. This means users can now phrase queries like “how to control my PC by voice” or “my mouse pointer is too small,” and the AI will provide relevant guidance. At present, this feature is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs equipped with Snapdragon processors and configured in English, though Microsoft has confirmed that support for AMD and Intel-based devices will follow soon.

Additionally, the company is integrating a new FAQs section into the “About” page under the System tab in Settings. This section will serve as a central hub for users seeking details about their device’s performance, system configuration, and compatibility, making it easier to understand technical aspects at a glance.

Another AI-enhanced feature making a return is “Click To Do,” which was originally introduced last year. With the latest update, users on AMD and Intel Copilot+ PCs can use shortcuts like Win + mouse click or Win + Q to highlight a block of text and choose actions such as Summarize, Rewrite, or turn it into a bullet list. These features are powered by Phi Silica, a compact on-device language model that processes user inputs locally for quick responses.

This intelligent functionality activates when a selection contains at least 10 words, the default language is English, and the user is logged into a Microsoft account. For Insider users who have set French or Spanish as their primary language, the Rewrite option is currently unavailable but is expected to return in a future release.
