A 22-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce gave the Kansas City Chiefs their first lead in the second quarter of their divisional playoff game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Kelce made the catch close to the end zone after the Bills left him open. He entered the game unopposed, giving the Chiefs a 13–10 lead.
With three catches for 66 yards and the touchdown, Kelce led all Chiefs receivers in his impressive first half.
On their 15th playoff score, Mahomes and Kelce tied Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady for the most touchdowns by a quarterback-receiver combination in NFL postseason history.
With this score, Kelce tied Franco Harris for the fourth-most in NFL playoff history with his 17th postseason touchdown overall.
To celebrate his brother’s touchdown, Jason Kelce, whose season with the Philadelphia Eagles ended last weekend, was present.
Early in the third quarter, Kelce’s second touchdown of the game—a 3-yard reception from Mahomes—put the Chiefs ahead 20–17. Blake Bell and Noah Grey, the Chiefs’ other two tight ends, were also listed in the lineup for the play.
On the left side of the formation, all three of them were positioned. With Bell and Grey among those blocking in front of him, Kelce was able to get a screen pass and get into the end zone.
