Oreo and Ritz are offering away free cookie-cracker sandwiches

When it comes to treats, sweet and salty are a well-known duo, and a new Oreo and Ritz combination capitalising on that.

The two Mondelz International companies are collaborating on a limited-edition snack dubbed “Oreo x Ritz.” It’s made up of one part cracker and one part cookie, with a layer of peanut-butter flavoured cream and another layer of cookie crème holding it all together.

If that mix sounds tasty, act fast: the company is giving it away for free on a special website starting Thursday at 12 p.m. ET, and quantities are limited. You will, however, be charged $3.95 for postage.

Ritz senior brand manager Alexis Yap said in a statement that the company has “has been exploring innovative partnerships” in recent years and “couldn’t resist the opportunity to collaborate with our friends at Oreo on a snack that’s part salty cracker, part chocolate cookie, and entirely delicious.”

Mondelz International (MDLZ), which owns Chips Ahoy, Triscuit, and Cadbury, is the company behind the brands. In developed regions such as North America and portions of Europe, the corporation recently announced it is selling its gum business, which includes Dentyne and Trident. In emerging areas, it will stick to its gum business.

In recent years, Mondelez has made a series of acquisitions to broaden its baked-goods range. Chipita, a firm that sells croissants and other baked goods throughout Europe, was purchased earlier this year as part of efforts to develop new products that blend chocolate and baked foods.

The company reported a 7.3% gain in net revenue in the first quarter, thanks in part to the addition of more brands.
