Netflix has taken a hard stance on five series, including its fantasy drama Shadow and Bone, while Hollywood works to organise its slates following the strikes.
According to report, Netflix will not be moving forward with the animated series Agent Elvis, Farzar, and Captain Fall, as well as Glamorous, starring Kim Cattrall, in addition to Shadow and Bone. The news was initially reported on Wednesday.
According to a report, balancing production costs against viewership played a role in the decision-making process. However, scheduling issues following the strikes also had an impact; with performers now back on sets and off the picket lines, Hollywood is working frantically to get projects back into production.
In particular, Shadow and Bone, which is based on the well-liked Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo, was hinted to be a possible fantasy series for Netflix. With its second season having debuted this past March, it is the only series among today’s cancelled shows to receive more than one season.
Nevertheless, it was planned for Captain Fall’s 20-episode debut season to be divided into two halves, with the first ten episodes airing in July. When the second batch of episodes will air is still unclear.
In contrast, the animated series Agent Elvis, like to Archer, portrayed Elvis Presley’s strange and genuine wish to work as a secret agent. Jim Vejvoda of IGN scored it a 7/10, describing it as “a raucous, funny, and loving tribute to Elvis, the man, and his myth.”
Glamorous, a comedy-drama series about the beauty industry, debuted in June and starred Cattrall and YouTuber Miss Benny. In July 2022, the sci-fi cartoon series Farzar made its Netflix debut.
