According to report, Alfre Woodard has joined the cast of the upcoming drama series “The Last Frontier” on Apple TV+.
Along with the previously announced series lead Jason Clarke, Tait Blum, Simone Kessell, Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, and Dallas Goldtooth from “Reservation Dogs,” Woodard joins the cast of the show. Apple has ordered ten episodes of the show.
According to the official description, the series follows “follows US Marshall Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone Marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska, whose jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with international political implications.”
Many awards have been bestowed to Woodard, making her one of the most celebrated actresses of her era. In addition to receiving many more awards, she has been nominated for and won four Emmy Awards, three SAG Awards, one Golden Globe, and nine NAACP Awards during her career. For her performance in “Cross Creek,” she received a nomination for an Oscar as best supporting actress. Her roles in television series including Hill Street Blues, LA Law, and Miss Evers’ Boys, as well as in movies like Clemency and Brooklyn, have made her well-known.
Gochman Law Group, Circle of Confusion, and CAA represent her.
The authors of “The Last Frontier” are Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio. With Clarke, they both function as executive producers. The pilot will be directed and executive produced by Sam Hargrave. Producing will be Apple Studios.
