The era of artificial intelligence is arrived. At least in Coca-Cola’s estimation.
The multinational soft drink company today debuted a limited-edition soda made with AI.
According to marketing materials, Coca-Cola Y3000 is “the first futuristic flavor co-created with human and artificial intelligence.”
The Y3000 beverage has a two-step flavouring process. To start, Coca-Cola researchers gathered “key flavor preferences and trends to understand what consumers imagine and think the future tastes like,” a company official told CNBC Make It.
Coke’s artificial intelligence system then processed that data to “help develop flavor profiles and pairings.”
The new flavour of Coca-Cola isn’t described in any of the company’s publications, although it is available in typical and sugar-free versions.
The futuristic packaging for the slim can, which includes a pixelated logo, crisp chrome colours, as well as illuminates of purple, pink, and blue, was also created using AI.
According to a press statement from Coca-Cola, “Inspired by the timelessness of Coca-Cola, we want to celebrate everyone’s idea of what the future might look like.” Coca-Cola Y3000 Zero Sugar “With the help of AI-powered technology, Coca-Cola Y3000 Zero Sugar imagines how a Coca-Cola from the future could taste and introduces innovative experiences to explore the future.”
There will also be some futuristic apparel to go along with the Y3000 flavour. This autumn, Coca-Cola will work with the premium streetwear company Ambush to develop a line.
