Springfield actress will play Priscilla Presley in upcoming movie

Cailee Spaeny, who was born in Springfield, will appear on screen this fall as Priscilla Presley, Elvis Presley’s wife and cultural icon.

Sofia Coppola, daughter of filmmakers Eleanor and Francis Ford Coppola and director of “The Virgin Suicides,” “Lost in Translation,” and the biopic “Marie Antoinette,” announced in September 2022 that she would be directing a film adaptation of Priscilla Presley’s book “Elvis and Me.”

Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi have also been cast as Priscilla and Elvis, respectively, according to Coppola. This announcement was made shortly after Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, starring Austin Butler, was released. Luhrmann’s interpretation will not have any connection to Coppola’s story.

Spaeny is well-known to residents of Springfield for his roles in plays at the Springfield Little Theater; however, his first major role came in the 2018 film “Pacific Rim Uprising,” followed by several roles in films such as “Bad Times at the El Royale” and “Vice.” She also appears in shows like “Devs” and “Mare of Easttown” on television.

This year, “PRISCILLA” is scheduled to come out in October. To view the trailer for “PRISCILLA,” go to this link.
