So Cute: Tina Fey and Lindsay Lohan Reconcile at The Mean Girls Premiere

Once again, Lindsay Lohan is making fetch happen.

At the Mean Girls musical film’s New York City premiere on Monday, the actress and Tina Fey got back together. In the original 2004 comedy, Lohan portrayed the role of Cady Heron, and Fey played Ms. Norbury, a maths teacher, and authored the screenplay.

Now, 20 years later, Fey is returning to North Shore High School in a film version of the stage production based on the 2017 film. Fey penned the screenplay and played Ms. Norbury once more; Lohan showed up to the film’s premiere to offer her support for the hip new venture.

In a Walmart commercial from the previous year, Lohan returned to her position as Amanda Seyfried’s co-star opposite Lacey Chabert.

Reneé Rapp, who portrayed Regina George in the Broadway production of the musical, is also a star in the new Mean Girls, alongside Avantika, Christopher Briney, Auliʻi Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, and Bebe Wood. Ashley Park, who previously played Gretchen Wieners on stage, portrays a French instructor in the movie, while Busy Phillipps, Jon Hamm, and Jenna Fischer play some of the adult supporting characters. The only other member of the 2004 cast returning to the film is Tim Meadows, who plays Principal Duvall in the film from 2024.

During her second run at filming Mean Girls, Fey discussed in an interview with EW the difficulties she faced in striking a balance between the known and the unknown. “It’s tricky, because jokes have to be surprises to work,” added Fey. “So, finding genuine new moments and then finding spots to subvert what you expect the old line to be was really helpful.” She also made a joke about how bizarre it would be to write the same movie twice. “I feel like I’m in an episode of The Twilight Zone sometimes, and I think, ‘Oh, so I just write this one movie for the rest of my life?'” Alright,”
