Nintendo Switch 2 release is reportedly postponed until 2025

It was believed that this year would be the year that Nintendo finally released a successor to the Switch. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for the Switch 2 to arrive.

Brazilian gaming journalist Pedro Enrique Lutti Lippe released a video today in which he cites five sources as saying that Nintendo is targeting a release date for the Switch 2 in the first quarter of 2025. He claimed to have obtained it from. This was also supported by Eurogamer, who had heard “similar whispers” about the long-awaited console.

VGC has now confirmed a release date of Q1 2025 based on its own sources. In addition, VGC sources say third-party developers developing titles for Nintendo have been notified of the schedule change.

Rumor has it that Nintendo plans to launch a new system in the second half of 2024. However, internal delays appear to be getting in the way, and the launch has been pushed back to early next year.

A spokesperson told his VGC that the delay may be related to the platform’s software. Sources note that the launch will be delayed to give Nintendo enough time to prepare a stronger first-party launch lineup.

It’s unclear which games will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. However, rumors suggest we might get Metroid Prime 4, a 3D Mario game, and more.
