Nick Frost is a part of the live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon”

The casting process for How To Train Your Dragon is still underway as Nick Frost has joined the live-action version of the DreamWorks animated classic. The Hollywood Reporter claims that Frost will play Gobber the Belch, a dependable companion and advisor to Gerard Butler’s character Stoick. With decades of combat experience under his belt, the character offers advice to everyone in need and is well-equipped to take down any dragon that dared to attack the Isle of Berk. With the announcement of the protagonists a few months ago, Frost is among the first confirmed members of the supporting cast of the adaptation.

How to Train Your Dragon follows Mason Thames’s character Hiccup, who is uneasy because he lacks the strength to be a true Viking. However, just when he seems there is nothing more he can do to make things better, he encounters Toothless, the legendary Night Fury, who tells the youngster that it is wrong to kill dragons. Hiccup, who is in love with Nico Parker’s character Astrid, will attempt to persuade everyone on the Island of Berk to alter their ways after generations of people have devoted their lives to discovering novel approaches to defeat the fire-breathing monsters.

The animation How to Train Your Dragon film director, Dean DeBlois, will be directing the project for the first time in a live-action setting, bringing fresh energy to the story he initially explored over ten years ago. The films, which adapt Cressida Cowell’s book of the same name, include Hiccup and Toothless, two of DreamWorks’ most recognisable characters, making a triumphant transition from book to screen. Over the course of nine years, the trilogy generated over $1.5 billion at the global box office, raising hopes for the adored characters’ live-action debut.

Before embarking on a crazy trip in How To Train Your Dragon, Frost worked on a variety of comedic films throughout his career, most notably Edgar Wright’s Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy which comprises Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End. Along with these films, the comedian has starred in Fighting with My Family, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and The World’s End. Regarding television, Frost provided voiceovers for a few episodes of Phineas and Ferb and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Frost, in the guise of Gobber the Belch, will give the children of How to Train Your Dragon a reliable partner as they work to alter a hunting legacy that dates back hundreds of years before their birth.

As additional information becomes available, be sure to check back with Collider. How to Train Your Dragon is currently scheduled to open in theatres on June 13, 2025. Netflix now offers the animated feature film for streaming.
