Michael Imperioli is set to star in Season 2 of HBO series ‘The White Lotus’

Michael Imperioli has been cast as the lead in HBO’s dark comedy series The White Lotus’ second season. The first confirmed cast member for the planned follow-up to Mike White’s successful social satire limited series is the Sopranos alum, who will be a series regular.

Visitors at the White Lotus, an exclusive Hawaiian resort, were the focus of the six-part original series. The sequel, which will be written, filmed, and executive produced by White, will leave Hawaii for a new setting and follow a fresh group of tourists at another White Lotus property.

Dominic Di Grasso, played by Imperioli, is a man travelling with his elderly father and just graduated son.

Jennifer Coolidge, a standout member of the original cast, has been speculated to be returning. Along with David Bernad and Nick Hall, White serves as an executive producer. Mark Kamine is a co-executive producer on the film.

In David Chase’s prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, which is available on HBO Max, Imperioli recreated his Emmy-winning Sopranos role as Christopher Moltisanti for voice-over work.

Imperioli is also writing a potential series for HBO with Alec Berg, which is now in development. The project, characterised as a meta blend of fact and fiction largely based on Imperioli’s experiences as a practising Buddhist, has Imperioli attached to star in it. Imperioli and Berg, as well as Amy Solomon, who manages Berg’s production firm, executive produce.

Gersh and Anonymous Content represent Imperioli, who is currently filming the Hulu comedy This Fool.
