Disney says it presently has 94.9 million Disney+ subscribers

Disney reported Thursday that its streaming platform outperformed 94.9 million subscribers. The organization declared the number as part of its earnings report for the December quarter. The organization’s stock was up about 2% after hours on the news.

Disney+ surpassed the organization’s initial subscriber goal of 60 million to 90 million by 2024 back in November, forcing it to reforecast. The organization currently expects Disney+ will have 230 million to 260 million subscribers by 2024.

These solid subscriber numbers come as Disney has pushed intensely into streaming. In October, the organization started rebuilding its media and entertainment divisions to focus additional on Disney+.
