College Football video game will be back this summer, according to EA Sports

EA Sports has announced that their video game College Football will be returning after an 11-year break, which will have many people thinking back to their early years.

Bill Walsh College Football was the first game in the series to be launched in 1993, and it was distributed for two years under the late coach’s name.

Before becoming NCAA Football from 1998 to 2014, the name was changed to College Football USA for the 1996 and 1997 seasons.

The game was temporarily suspended due to a dispute between EA, the NCAA, and college athletes. Since the 1997 version, every cover has featured an athlete, as video games usually do. However, athletes who won titles were not allowed to receive compensation for their photos or likenesses.

Also, when manipulating the athletes in each episode, players could not see their names. Reggie Bush, for example, would be ranked as “HB No. 5,” and Tim Tebow as “QB No. 15.”

But now that NIL is allowed, gamers won’t only know a player’s position and number on the field—they will know exactly who they are.

The game will be called College Football 25, although the release date has not yet been disclosed.

Three years ago, EA Sports declared that the game will return. They even stated that a new version would be launched this summer, but that never happened.

The company says the game will be released “this summer” and details will be announced in May.
