Zee 5 Global Releases Romantic Drama ‘Hi’ With Nayanthara and Kavin

Zee 5 Global has premiered Hi, a new romantic film starring Indian cinema stars Nayanthara and Kavin.

The Indian-focused streaming service describes the movie as “an unconventional yet heartwarming romance” that explores modern relationships from a fresh perspective.

Directed by Vishnu Edavan, Hi centers on a young man played by Kavin who continues searching for love despite experiencing heartbreak and rejection. Meanwhile, Nayanthara portrays a young woman dealing with difficult family circumstances as she attempts to break free from an unwanted marriage. After their lives intersect, the two begin an emotional journey involving love, acceptance and self-discovery.

The cast also features veteran Tamil actors Radhika Sarathkumar, Prabhu and K. Bhagyaraj. The film marks Bhagyaraj’s final on-screen performance following his death in June.

The trailer for Hi comes from Zee Studios, Seven Screen Studio and Rowdy Pictures, the production company founded by Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.

Following its theatrical release in late August, Hi is now available to stream across Zee 5’s international territories, including the U.S. and Canada.

Siju Prabhakaran, Chief Business Officer at Zee 5 Global, said the platform aims to bring emotionally driven stories to audiences across different markets.

“At Zee 5 Global, we are committed to bringing audiences stories that are rooted in emotion and connect with viewers across markets. With Hi, we are delighted to present a refreshing take on love, relationships and the complexities that come with them,” Prabhakaran said.

“The film brings together Nayanthara and Kavin in a heartfelt story that balances romance, humour and emotion. We look forward to bringing this film to audiences across our global markets and hope it resonates with viewers worldwide,” he added.

Nayanthara described her character as an independent and resilient woman who is also dealing with personal fears and emotional struggles.

“The character I play in Hi is someone who is independent, resilient, and deeply grounded in her convictions, yet she carries her own fears and emotional complexities,” Nayanthara said.

“That balance of strength and vulnerability is what made the role so meaningful to me. She is protective of the people she loves, thoughtful in her choices, and someone who learns that opening her heart can be both challenging and beautiful,” she added.

Kavin said he was particularly drawn to the emotional openness of his character.

“What I loved most about Hi was that it gives us a male protagonist who is unapologetically vulnerable, emotionally honest, and unafraid to wear his heart on his sleeve,” Kavin said.

“In a world where men are often expected to hide their emotions, my character embraces them, making him incredibly real and relatable. He is a young man navigating love, rejection, self-doubt, and the fear of not being enough, all while holding on to the hope of finding a meaningful connection,” he added.
