Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow have released the first teaser for Nayyi Navelli, an upcoming fantasy family entertainer starring Yami Gautam Dhar. The film is scheduled to arrive in Indian theaters on Oct. 16, ahead of the Dussehra festival.
The teaser begins inside an apparently ordinary household before taking an unexpected turn when a brother-in-law accuses the family’s newest member of being a “daayan,” or witch. The footage then introduces a series of unusual characters and chaotic situations surrounding Gautam Dhar’s character, marking a role the studio says is unlike her previous performances.
Balaji Mohan directs Nayyi Navelli from a screenplay by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. G.V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music. The film is produced by Aanand L. Rai and Sharma under the Colour Yellow banner.
The ensemble cast features Addinath M. Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vashisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee, Sonal Jha, Suneel Sinha, Prateek Pachori, Akshat Singh, Babita Pandey, Ajay Pal and Neeraj Singh.
Nayyi Navelli marks another addition to Colour Yellow’s slate of character-driven original films. Founded by Rai, the production company is known for titles including Raanjhanaa, the Tanu Weds Manu franchise, Tere Ishk Mein, Atrangi Re, Tumbbad and Tu Yaa Main.
Gautam Dhar most recently appeared in a cameo role in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Her recent leading roles include Haq and Article 370.
Amazon MGM Studios develops and produces film and television projects for audiences worldwide. Its original programming is available through Prime Video across more than 240 territories, in addition to its theatrical releases and MGM+ programming.
