With a 10-inch infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof, the MG Astor is India's only mid-size SUV with a 10-inch touchscreen

JSW MG Motor India has strategically positioned its MY2025 Astor as a standout offering in the competitive mid-size SUV market by introducing a host of premium features at an accessible price point. Announced on May 30, 2025, the new Astor is being promoted as a “Blockbuster SUV” and sets itself apart as the only 1.5-litre petrol mid-size SUV in India to provide both a panoramic sunroof and a 10-inch infotainment system below the ₹12.5 lakh ex-showroom price mark.

All Astor models now come equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen screen, while the Shine model is the first to offer a panoramic sunroof. Among its category, the Astor also claims a unique position as the sole 1.5-litre automatic SUV under ₹15 lakh to come equipped with wireless charging, featured on the Sharp Pro model. Another highlight is the inclusion of heated outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), which JSW MG touts as a first-of-its-kind feature in internal combustion engine vehicles within this segment.

The MY2025 Astor is available with the VTi-TECH engine and a choice of manual or CVT automatic transmissions. The starting price is ₹11.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The model range has been refreshed to include two new variants-Shine and Select-expanding the trim lineup to better cater to customer preferences.

Safety and convenience are key priorities in the new Astor. It includes more than 50 safety features and 14 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Other highlights include ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an auto-dimming internal rearview mirror, and the i-SMART 2.0 connected car suite, which offers over 80 connected features. Additionally, the Jio Voice Recognition system supports voice commands for tasks such as checking the weather, cricket scores, calculations, and news.

In 2023, China’s SAIC Motor, a Fortune Global 500 company, and India’s JSW Group formed a joint venture to create JSW MG Motor India. MG, originally a British marque dating back to 1924, currently manufactures its vehicles in Halol, Gujarat, with an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 units. With models like the Hector, ZS EV, Gloster, and Comet, the brand is well-known in India.

As competition intensifies in the ₹10-15 lakh mid-size SUV segment, the MY2025 Astor aims to deliver superior value by offering premium features typically found in higher-end vehicles, setting a new benchmark for this price range.
