Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says that Apple has some unannounced features for its next iOS 26 update.
During the recent Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), the features were speculated about but not revealed.
They are expected to be made available in the upcoming months, most likely as part of the iOS 26.1 or iOS 26.2 updates in October or December, respectively.
In addition, the stable version of iOS 26 might be released in the middle of September, probably following Apple’s iPhone event.
Features associated with AirPods and Wi-Fi connectivity
As reported by Gurman, there are two upcoming features that have not yet been announced: live translation via AirPods and the ability to sync captive Wi-Fi connections throughout the entire Apple ecosystem.
The first feature would enable real-time conversations in various languages using AirPods, akin to other live translation functionalities introduced in iOS 26.
The second feature aims to streamline access to public Wi-Fi by removing the requirement to log into public portals on each device within the Apple ecosystem.
Apple modifies its strategy to feature announcements
Gurman added that Apple had modified its strategy for announcing new features.
Several features were unveiled at last year’s WWDC but were either months late or haven’t arrived yet.
When it comes to revealing features that aren’t quite ready for release, the firm is now more cautious.
This was made clear during WWDC, where Apple made no announcements about anything that wasn’t almost ready for release in the initial release of iOS 26 or a subsequent update.
