Bharti Airtel has partnered with Google to offer its customers access to Google One cloud storage, aiming to ease the burden of limited storage on smartphones. This collaboration allows Airtel postpaid and Wi-Fi users to enjoy 100 GB of Google One cloud storage free for six months. The offer also includes the option to share this storage with up to five additional people, making it a comprehensive solution for families or close-knit groups. The move is designed to help users manage the increasing volume of digital content such as photos, videos, and important files without constantly worrying about running out of space or investing in additional physical storage.
With mobile devices now serving as hubs for both personal and professional life, the demand for secure and ample storage has surged. This partnership directly addresses that need, offering a reliable and user-friendly alternative that supports both Android and iOS platforms. A significant advantage of this initiative is its compatibility with WhatsApp backups on Android, as chats are stored on the user’s Google Account, making it easier to switch devices without losing data.
Bharti Airtel’s Director of Marketing and CEO of Connected Homes, Siddharth Sharma, highlighted the growing significance of storage in everyday smartphone use. He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating it would bring secure and dependable cloud solutions to Airtel’s broad user base. He also highlighted that this would benefit millions of customers who can now access an extra 100 GB of storage without additional cost for the first six months.
To activate the offer, customers need to log in to the Airtel Thanks App and redeem the benefit. The service will cost Rs 125 per month after the six-month free trial period, and it will be added to the customer’s monthly payment. Users also have the option to discontinue the subscription if they choose not to continue beyond the trial period.
Karen Teo, Vice President of Platforms & Devices Partnerships for Google in the Asia-Pacific region, said the collaboration will simplify the process of safeguarding users’ digital content across Google Photos, Drive, Gmail, and more. Google One subscribers under this plan can enjoy 100 GB of cloud storage, easily back up content including WhatsApp chats, and share storage access with others at no extra charge, bringing enhanced convenience and peace of mind to Airtel customers.
