Tame Impala Release ‘Dracula’ Ahead of Upcoming Album

Another taste of Tame Impala’s forthcoming album, Deadbeat, has been released.

The song, titled “Dracula,” was revealed in a recent interview with Zane Lowe, in which Kevin Parker discussed how the song evolved over time. He called “Dracula” one of the pivotal tracks on the band’s upcoming album. Listen down below.

Tame Impala confirmed earlier this month that their new album, which will be their debut release on the label, will be released on October 17th through Columbia Records.

A press release describes Deadbeat as “kind of a future primitive rave act,” citing inspiration from the bush doof culture and Western Australia’s rave scene.

However, as Parker makes his way through family life, the lyrics are said to reflect “an endless bummer, a self-deprecating fuck-up stuck in a negative feedback loop when he should have long had his shit together.”

Tame Impala just released the album’s track list, which includes “Dracula” and two prior singles: “Loser,” which debuted with a music video featuring Joe Keery from Stranger Things, comes in at No. 4, and “End of Summer” is the album’s lead single. See the whole tracklist below.

Parker’s band’s first new song since the 2020 album The Slow Rush was “End of Summer.” Additionally, it was Tame Impala’s debut recording under the new Columbia Records label.

“End of Summer” took Tame Impala’s sound into deeper dance terrain than ever before, evoking the acid house of the late 1980s and early 1990s, while “Loser” was funk-laden psych-pop.

Five years have passed since their most recent album, The Slow Rush, which received numerous Grammy nominations and five ARIA Awards.
