Suzuki Motor Corporation, a Japanese automaker, declared that on January 16, 2026, it will begin selling its new battery-powered eVitara SUV in Japan.
Last November, the eVitara had its debut in Milan, Italy. In January 2025, it was on display at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi, India.
According to Suzuki, the eVitara is their first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model worldwide. It is built on the company’s recently created “HEARTECT-e” platform, which is intended exclusively for BEVs, and has the “ALLGRIP-e” electric 4WD system, which provides a “nimble and sharp driving experience.” It is stated that the model can go 430 kilometers between charges.
The e-Vitara will be exported from India to over 100 markets globally, including Japan, where prices will start at JPY 3.99 million (US$27,000), the automaker confirmed. In Europe, the business is already accepting pre-orders for the model.
At a recent news conference, Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki informed reporters, “With the eVitara, we will enter the competitive BEV market.” By learning how our customers use our vehicles, we hope to keep releasing BEVs that are most appropriate for each market.
