Flagship owners are perplexed by Samsung’s release of the eagerly awaited Android 15/One UI 7 update. Budget-friendly phones have surprisingly stepped ahead in line for the upgrade, despite anticipation that high-end devices like the Galaxy S24 series would get it first.
As reported by SamMobile, “owners of Galaxy smartphones launched before 2025 endure a frustratingly long wait for the One UI 7 update.” When Android 15 was released for less expensive smartphones from rival companies before Samsung’s flagship models, the situation became even more confusing. The fact that some of Samsung’s own entry-level devices now feature One UI 7 before the high-end Galaxy S24 series is even more unexpected.
Samsung has released the Galaxy F06 in India, with prices starting at just 10,000 INR (~$114), according to SammyFans. The Galaxy M06, another low-cost model, came next, and both came with One UI 7 already loaded. Three new mid-range versions from Samsung were released in the United States: the Galaxy A26 5G ($299.99), Galaxy A36 5G ($399.99), and Galaxy A56 5G ($499.99). All of these models come pre-installed with One UI 7.
Owners of flagship devices are frustrated by the unexpected rollout plan, particularly as Samsung already encountered difficulties in early 2025, such as postponed security upgrades, a secure folder vulnerability that revealed private data, and continuous delays in the introduction of Android 15.
Samsung has improved security and privacy with One UI 7, making it a highly desirable upgrade, even though Google made significant advancements in these areas with Android 15. Users who are eager for the upgrade, however, would have to wait a little while longer since the most recent reports indicate that it will start rolling out in mid-April, but Samsung has not yet confirmed an official release date.
As Samsung continues to prioritize newer or more affordable models over its flagship flagships, Galaxy S24 users will need to exercise patience for the time being.
