Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially launched the highly anticipated Rebel 500 in the Indian market, pricing it at ₹5.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). A few Honda BigWing Topline locations in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gurugram are presently accepting reservations, and deliveries are anticipated to start in June 2025.
The Rebel 500, known globally for its retro-modern cruiser appeal, has now joined Honda’s expanding premium motorcycle lineup in India. Flaunting a distinctive blacked-out aesthetic, the bike sports a steeply raked fuel tank, a round LED headlight, and a low 690mm seat height, making it both stylish and accessible for a wide range of riders. It will be available in a single Standard variant, finished in a sleek Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic shade.
Under the hood, the Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that generates 34 kW at 8,500 RPM and 43.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 RPM. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox designed to deliver smooth performance with a focus on low-end torque. Complementing its cruiser DNA is a short, stubby exhaust that produces a deep and resonant note.
Yogesh Mathur, Director of Sales and Marketing at HMSI, expressed his excitement over the launch, stating that Indian enthusiasts have long awaited the Rebel 500’s arrival. He emphasized that the motorcycle offers a unique mix of classic cruiser elements and modern enhancements, appealing to riders who seek individuality and a strong road presence.
Structurally, the Rebel 500 is built around a tubular steel frame and is equipped with telescopic front forks and twin Showa shock absorbers at the rear. The braking system includes a 296mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS. It rides on 16-inch wheels fitted with Dunlop tyres and features an inverted LCD display that provides essential riding data.
According to Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President, and CEO of HMSI, the Rebel 500 has already made a significant impact in international markets, and its introduction in India is set to attract both new and experienced riders. He described the bike as not just a mode of transport, but a powerful expression of freedom, performance, and personal style.
The Rebel 500 will be exclusively available through BigWing Topline dealerships in three cities-Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Positioned as a lifestyle motorcycle, the Rebel 500 represents Honda’s push into the premium motorcycle segment, combining heritage-inspired design with the brand’s trusted engineering. Prospective buyers can reserve the bike either in person at showrooms or via Honda’s official website.
