Whoop, the U.S.-based health technology and wearables company, has officially unveiled two new advanced fitness devices-Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG-both packed with a wide array of health-focused features such as blood pressure tracking, hormonal health analysis, and an ECG-enabled heart screener. These latest additions to the Whoop lineup are notably more compact, measuring seven percent smaller than the previous Whoop 4.0 model, and boast a battery life that extends beyond 14 days on a single charge, according to the brand.
Announcing the launch, Whoop founder and CEO Will Ahmed emphasized that this isn’t merely a hardware update but a complete transformation of the Whoop platform. Sharing the announcement on LinkedIn on May 8, he explained that the brand is striving to empower users by shifting control of health monitoring into their own hands, at a time when traditional healthcare is still mostly reactive and out of reach for many, Whoop is positioned as a holistic health operating system.
Whoop bands, while priced on par with smartwatches from tech giants like Google and Samsung in markets such as India, have carved out a distinct identity-particularly among athletes. Their popularity stems from the brand’s reputation for delivering highly accurate fitness and wellness metrics. One of the brand’s most high-profile backers is global football star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is both an investor and a brand ambassador.
The new Whoop 5.0 features upgraded sensors that deliver detailed analysis on areas like sleep patterns, recovery levels, physical strain, stress response, and general wellness, and now includes a haptic alarm for better user experience. A heart screener with FDA approval and an ECG feature are features of the Whoop MG, which is designed for cardiovascular insights.
Visually, these wearables are described as Whoop’s most luxurious offerings yet, made with premium Italian leather to ensure round-the-clock comfort and elegance. To accommodate various preferences, they come in a number of sizes and colors.
In terms of software enhancements, the devices now offer tools like Whoop Age, which estimates physiological age and aging rate, and Hormonal Insights, offering more granular data on menstrual and hormonal health. The new Sleep Performance score has also been recalibrated to more accurately reflect sleep quality. Alongside these wearables, Whoop has refreshed its accessory range, including new versions of SuperKnit, SportFlex, and CoreKnit bands, and launched its own athleisure line called Whoop Body.
Additionally, Whoop is developing a new feature called Advanced Labs, which will allow users to schedule blood work directly through the app for personalized insights into key areas like cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, and immune health. Whoop offers the new gadgets through its subscription levels, which include Whoop Life ($359), Whoop Peak ($239), and Whoop One ($199).
