Prime Video will release its next Indian film globally on May 22. System, directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, will be released across 240 Prime Video regions.
The high-stakes legal thriller starring Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika, and Ashutosh Gowariker was announced in March at India’s Prime Video Presents upfront, which included 69 film and TV titles.
The film is produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja, and Smitha Baliga, with writing credits going to Harman Baweja, Arun Sukumar, director Tiwari, Tasneem Lokhandwala, and Akshat Ghildial.
The film follows the odd connection of Neha Rajvansh (Sinha), a public prosecutor, and Sarika Rawat (Jyotika), a courtroom stenographer from a low-income family. From the summary, “Despite their distinctly different social standings, the team up to fight for justice and truth even it means going up against the most powerful.”
“System is a powerful and thrilling drama that explores themes of ambition, justice and ethics.” said Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video in India. “With Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari at the helm and backed by Baweja Studios, System will surprise you at each stage, making for compelling viewing. Led by power-packed performances by Sonakshi Sinha and Jyothika, we believe the movie has the potential to resonate strongly with audiences across the world when it releases on Prime Video on May 22.”
The film is the latest in a long line of movie originals produced by Prime Video India, which includes The Mehta Boys, Maja Ma, and Ammu. This film will not be released in theaters.
“System is a gripping legal drama that brings together two headstrong women from contrasting worlds, bound by their own ideas of justice,” Harman Baweja stated. “Brought to life through powerful performances by Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika, and Ashutosh Gowariker, the movie reflects our shared vision of telling meaningful, cinematic stories.”
