New DBX S with increased horsepower engine and new features unveiled by Aston Martin

After revealing their newest flagship SUV, the DBX S, Aston Martin declared it to be the most potent SUV ever made with an internal combustion engine. Officially revealed in April 2025, the DBX S is a bold step forward in the brand’s performance SUV journey, boasting an immense 717 bhp and capable of reaching a top speed of 193 mph. The new version, which is based on the original DBX, pushes the boundaries further with improvements in aerodynamics, handling, and responsiveness. The DBX S is expected to compete with top competitors like the Lamborghini Urus SE and Ferrari Purosangue, with first deliveries planned for late 2025.

When Aston Martin introduced the DBX in July 2020, it was the brand’s first venture into the SUV segment—a move that was initially met with skepticism. However, the DBX quickly silenced doubters by striking an impressive balance between supercar-like performance and the everyday usability expected from a luxury SUV. The DBX S now evolves this formula, bringing both mechanical and aesthetic upgrades to maintain its edge in the competitive high-performance SUV market.

A 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine powers the DBX S. Though similar to the powertrain in the DBX707, it has been reworked with new turbochargers sourced from the forthcoming Valhalla hypercar. This upgrade delivers 535kW (717 bhp) and 900Nm of torque, launching the SUV from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The powertrain is paired with a recalibrated nine-speed transmission and a rear-focused all-wheel-drive system, ensuring both precision and control at high speeds.

Weight reduction plays a key role in the DBX S’s improved agility. Performance is improved by using lightweight magnesium alloy wheels and a carbon-fibre roof, which reduce weight by 37 kg. Carbon-ceramic brakes, with 420mm front and 390mm rear discs, offer robust stopping capabilities, ensuring the vehicle remains as responsive as it is fast, whether on winding roads or closed circuits.

In terms of styling, the DBX S sports a distinct look with a carbon-fibre mesh grille, revised front splitter, restyled side skirts, and a reworked rear bumper. The quad exhaust pipes now adopt a stacked layout, further enhancing the SUV’s sporty demeanor. Inside, the cabin retains much of the DBX707’s layout but features exclusive leather trims, embroidery, and stitching to elevate the sense of luxury and distinction.

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark emphasized that the DBX S represents more than just a performance upgrade—it is a clear signal of the brand’s future direction. With extraordinary power and refined craftsmanship, the DBX S is not just an SUV; it’s a bold declaration of Aston Martin’s performance-driven ambitions. Pricing specifics are yet to be announced, but expectations are high for a vehicle that blends sheer speed with everyday practicality and unmistakable style.
