Microsoft has officially unveiled the Copilot Vision feature on Windows, integrated with the Highlights function, now accessible to users across the United States. This rollout marks a significant advancement in Microsoft’s mission to establish Copilot as an everyday, AI-powered productivity companion. Designed to seamlessly interpret on-screen activity, Copilot Vision introduces a more immersive and interactive AI experience for Windows users.
With Copilot Vision enabled, users can expect real-time, context-aware support as they navigate their PC. The assistant essentially acts like a digital co-pilot, capable of reading and interpreting what’s shown on the screen and then responding with helpful actions, answers, or instructions tailored to what the user is working on. Whether managing tasks across various software programs or simply browsing the web, this AI feature aims to streamline user interaction by offering proactive guidance.
One of the standout aspects is its ability to handle dual-app engagement, where users can share the view of two apps at once. This capability allows Copilot to derive greater context from user activity, helping it offer smarter suggestions or relevant information during multitasking. Another intuitive function, the Highlights feature, makes it easy for users to follow instructions visually within apps. For example, users can ask Copilot to “show me how” to perform an action, and the assistant will highlight where to click and what to do next within the selected application.
The versatility of Copilot Vision spans multiple activities, whether enhancing lighting in a photo editing app, navigating through complex gaming settings, or even organizing travel itineraries and packing essentials. Activating the feature is simple: open the Copilot application, click on the glasses icon, select the application window you want to share, and request assistance. The sharing can be disabled at any time by selecting ‘Stop’ or clicking the ‘X’ icon, ensuring users maintain full control over their data.
Currently released as part of Copilot Labs, this feature supports both Windows 10 and Windows 11 platforms. Microsoft has also enhanced the Copilot app with integrated Deep Research and document search tools. The company hinted at broader global availability in the near future, excluding European markets for now, and emphasized that future updates will be shaped by community feedback and ongoing improvements to functionality.
