Microsoft’s Xbox PC client for Windows is beginning to test its new aggregated gaming library. This week, the Xbox app will become a single launcher for the majority of loaded PC titles, allowing Xbox Insiders to view their Steam and Battle.net games simultaneously.
Later this year, the Xbox app and new gadgets like the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds will get access to this new integrated library. By combining Windows and Xbox, Microsoft hopes to make the Xbox app on Windows the center of PC gaming and take on Steam and SteamOS.
According to Manisha Oza, product manager for the Xbox platform, “when a player installs a game from a supported PC storefront, it will automatically appear in ‘My library’ within the Xbox PC app, as well as the ‘Most recent’ list of titles in the sidebar — making it easier than ever to jump back into your games.” According to Microsoft, functionality for more PC stores will be added gradually.
You can download Xbox Insider Hub on PC and join the PC gaming preview to test out the new aggregated library in the Xbox app on Windows. In the Library & Extensions area of the Xbox app settings, you can also control which titles are visible by blocking any PC storefront.
