Lenovo’s Googlebook 15 Reportedly Comes With a 2.8K OLED Touchscreen

Google is preparing to officially launch its new Googlebook platform later this year, and details about one of the first laptops expected to arrive with it are beginning to emerge. According to a report from MacObserver, Lenovo’s upcoming Googlebook 15 could feature a range of premium hardware, including Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors and a high-resolution OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Lenovo is reportedly developing multiple Googlebook devices, including a tablet with a detachable keyboard and trackpad as well as a more conventional laptop. The Lenovo Googlebook 15 appears to fall into the latter category. The laptop is said to feature a 15.3-inch OLED display with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 500 nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 is reportedly powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. Buyers could have the option of 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, along with either 256GB or 512GB of storage. If accurate, those specifications would position the device well above the hardware requirements associated with Google’s Chromebook Plus initiative.

Chromebook Plus devices were required to offer at least 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and an Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 700-series processor to qualify for Google’s enhanced AI features. The reported specifications of the Lenovo Googlebook 15 suggest that Google’s new laptop platform could target a more premium segment of the market.

The additional processing power could also support Googlebook-exclusive Gemini features. Google previously highlighted several AI capabilities as part of the Googlebook initiative, including Magic Cursor, which transforms the traditional mouse cursor into a contextual prompting tool for Gemini.

The Lenovo Googlebook 15 is also expected to include Googlebook-specific hardware features. According to MacObserver, the laptop will reportedly feature a multicolored LED strip known as a “glowbar,” designed to complement the platform’s AI-focused functionality.

While the leaked specifications provide some indication of the device’s positioning, its pricing remains unclear. However, the combination of a high-refresh-rate OLED display, Core Ultra processor, up to 32GB of RAM and Google’s new AI features suggests that the first generation of Googlebooks could cost more than many conventional Chromebooks.

More information may arrive soon. ChromeUnboxed reported in August that Google is planning a media event for September 15, where the company is expected to preview the first wave of Googlebook devices.
