Google Photos is launching a new “Create” tab after streamlining to three things on the bottom bar earlier this year.
Google Photos hopes to offer a single destination to access a variety of “creation tools,” as was stated last month. Create features a paintbrush icon and appears between Collections and Ask/Search.
Google is now highlighting photo to video in the top place. The grid lists of your tools:
- Animations: A quick-moving GIF of selected photos and videos.
- Cinematic photos: A 3D effect added to photos.
- Collage: Combine multiple photos in one stylish layout.
- Highlight videos: A video with music that uses photos and videos.
- Photo to video: Animate your photo and turn static moments into dynamic six-second video clips.
- Remix: Transform your photos into different styles like “Anime.” [This is still rolling out.]
Since they all play at once, the square cards are a little cluttered and all have examples. Although it makes its point, this stream is a little busy, particularly with the animation at the top.
A carousel of 16 different collage styles follows, and the final section allows you to create a Highlight movie. To get things started, Google lists people, places, and events.
The “plus” menu in the upper-right corner, next to the profile account and notification bell, is still accessible with this modification. While there are shortcuts for partner sharing and importing from other sources, the “Create new” list is primarily used for creating new albums and the print store. For some degree of duplication, it does, however, list collage, highlight videos, cinematic photos, animation, and photo to video.
On Android, the Google Photos Create tab is now available with version 7.40. It isn’t generally accessible yet.
