Following the Pixel Launcher shortcut, you can now add AI Mode to the Google Search homescreen widget on any Android device.
As with a standard search, you can enter a query directly into the fullscreen AI Mode interface. Widget access originally appeared in April for some Google app beta testers. It has gone through a couple cycles of being available and then suddenly disappearing.
The AI Mode widget shortcut has been widely carried out for both beta and stable users of the Google app 16.28 in recent days. In the most recent widget makeover, it displays in a separate circle to the right of the voice microphone and Google Lens.
To set, long-press the Settings/Edit widget on your homescreen to access the Customize screen, which includes Theme and Transparency choices. This is also available in the Google app Settings list.
Tap Shortcuts, and “AI Mode” is the second option in the grid after “None.” If you utilize AI Mode on a non-Pixel device, the “Google” widget is the fastest way to get it from your homescreen.
Meanwhile, if you are not a member of the “AI Mode” Search Lab, the top section of the Google app still uses the original style. Instead of being integrated into the colorful carousel below the Search bar, the AI Mode shortcut appears as a pill.
