Paramount has announced a summer 2027 release date for Crawl 2, the upcoming sequel to the 2019 creature thriller, while Heart Eyes 2 has been moved forward by one week on the studio’s 2028 calendar.
Directed by Alexandre Aja, Crawl 2 is now scheduled to hit theaters on July 16, 2027. The film stars Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd in a new survival story that once again pits its characters against deadly alligators.
The sequel follows 2019’s Crawl, which earned nearly $92 million worldwide. The original film centered on a woman and her father trapped during a powerful hurricane and subsequent flooding, with alligators creating an additional threat.
Aja produces the sequel alongside Craig Flores and Sam Raimi. Gregory Levasseur, Kevan Van Thompson and Zainab Azizi serve as executive producers.
Paramount had previously reserved the July 16, 2027 slot. Crawl 2 is currently scheduled to open against Sony’s Fake Skating and will arrive one week after Warner Bros. and DC’s Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Heart Eyes 2, a co-production with Spyglass, has shifted from February 11, 2028, to February 4, 2028. The move places the horror sequel opposite Universal’s Murder, She Wrote and takes it out of competition with a Disney event film previously scheduled for February 11.
Josh Ruben is directing Heart Eyes 2 and co-wrote the screenplay with Darcy Fowler, based on a story by Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy. Landon and Divide/Conquer are producing the sequel.
