Apple has launched the HomePod mini in a new midnight color variant, crafted from 100% recycled mesh fabric. Priced at Rs 10,990, this version is available for pre-order now, with sales starting on July 17. Previously available in colors like yellow, orange, blue, and white, the midnight shade expands the HomePod mini lineup.
Standing just 3.3 inches tall, the HomePod mini supports audio streaming from Apple’s platforms and third-party providers like Gaana and JioSaavn. It can create a true wireless stereo setup when paired with multiple units, allowing music or podcasts to be streamed across different rooms. In a single room, two HomePod mini speakers can function as a stereo pair for surround sound.
Powered by the Apple S5 chip, the HomePod mini utilizes advanced tuning models to optimize loudness, adjust dynamic range, and control driver movement and passive radiators in real time. It features a full-range driver with a neodymium magnet and force-cancelling passive radiators, delivering deep bass and clear high frequencies.
The smart speaker includes a three-microphone array for precise voice recognition, complemented by an inward-facing microphone to isolate sound and improve detection even during music playback.
Integrated with Siri, the HomePod mini offers a personalized experience for iPhone users. Siri can identify users by voice, tailor music and podcasts to individual preferences, and handle personal requests such as accessing messages, reminders, notes, and calendar appointments, as well as making and receiving phone calls.
Compatible with Apple devices like iPhones, Macs, and Apple TV, the HomePod mini supports smart home setups for controlling accessories through voice commands. It also features the “Intercom” function, enabling easy communication between family members at home. Users can send messages from one HomePod to another within a room, across specific zones, or throughout multiple rooms, with voice playback on designated speakers. Intercom works seamlessly with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and CarPlay.
Moreover, the HomePod mini is equipped with built-in sensors for monitoring smoke, carbon monoxide, temperature, and humidity, enhancing its utility as a comprehensive smart home device.
