Last week, iOS 26 brought a tonne of new features to Apple Music users, but it looks like Apple has even more planned for its upcoming major iPhone update. Today, iOS 26.1 went into beta, bringing with it a new swipe motion for Apple Music app track switching.
You can switch tracks by swiping on MiniPlayer in the iOS 26.1 beta
The MiniPlayer’s location at the bottom of the screen was altered by Apple’s Music app in iOS 26.
The MiniPlayer and search controls are now combined into a single row when the tab bar is collapsed.
However, iOS 26.1 adds a new feature to the MiniPlayer, even though it is now smaller most of the time inside the Music app.
With iOS 26.1 beta 1, you may now switch tracks by swiping left and right on the MiniPlayer.
It works regardless of whether the MiniPlayer is resized close to the tab bar or fully extended above it.
With the help of some lovely Liquid Glass effects and a haptic feedback tap when the music is switched, the new swiping gesture feels fantastic.
Swiping right returns you to the previous track, while swiping left takes you to the next song in your queue.
They became used to the gesture with very limited testing. It is an excellent substitute for the Now Playing screen’s traditional seek controls.
