Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Sierra EV next year, offering it in both electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) versions. The SUV, which captured attention in its concept form at the 2023 Auto Expo, has now had production model images leaked online. The production version stays true to much of the concept’s original design, showcasing Tata’s evolving design language, seen in models like the Curvv EV and the upcoming Harrier EV.
The Sierra EV boasts a closed-off grille, a full-width LED light bar mounted at the top, and a sculpted bonnet with striking contours. Its strong road presence is equally evident from the side profile, featuring flush door handles, robust door moldings, squarish wheel arches, bold body cladding, roof rails, and sporty alloy wheels. The charging port is discreetly positioned at the rear left side. A standout feature is the homage to the classic ICE Sierra, preserving the wide B-pillars and the rear’s wraparound glass design. The rear windows seamlessly integrate with the panoramic sunroof and rear windshield via a sleek black plastic finisher, although this visual effect isn’t fully captured in the current images.
At the back, the Sierra EV is outfitted with sharp tail lamps and another full-width LED strip, which enhances its modern aesthetic. A bold bumper adds to its dominating stance, although it misses the tailgate-mounted spare wheel that was iconic to the original Sierra. Instead, the spare wheel is likely tucked into the lower section of the boot, prioritizing a clean rear design.
Tata Motors has not yet disclosed detailed specifications for the electric powertrain, but the SUV is expected to offer a 45 kWh or 55 kWh battery pack, potentially delivering a range of around 550 km. While a single motor setup will likely be standard, there’s speculation about the possibility of a dual-motor AWD configuration. Tata plans to introduce the Sierra by the end of 2025, with a preview anticipated during the festive season that year. Reflecting its strategy with the Curvv, the electric version of the Sierra is expected to debut before its ICE counterpart, underscoring Tata’s commitment to expanding its EV dominance in the market.
